When I was in college, back in the late ’60s, working towards my BA in Psychology, I read Joanne Greenberg’s book, ” I Never Promised You a Rose Garden”. It was about her journey into what was diagnosed as schizophrenia. After reading it I felt very sad.
At the time I thought I should never get married or have children because I was told that schizophrenia was hereditary (My mother was diagnosed with it.) and thought to be incurable. I didn’t want to be a burden to any man, nor did I want to pass it down to my children.
This video shows Joanne’s successful recovery without drugs.
